Supporting the Arthritis Foundation!

Among the many common bonds between sisters all over the world is the support we have for the Arthritis Foundation. This year, Boston AOII alumnae came together for both Strike Out Arthritis! with the Red Sox, and the Boston Jingle Bell Run.

We had so much fun and look forward to future Arthritis Foundation Initiatives. Want to become a member of the Boston AOII Alumnae Group? Information on dues can be found HERE.

Strike Out Arthritis: The Red Sox donated a portion of each ticket sold by AOII to the Strike Out Arthritis! campaign, which “helps fund both critical research to find a cure for arthritis, and programs that improve quality of life for people with arthritis.” As noted from AOII, The SOA! program (collegiate & alumnae chapter and MLB/MiLB events), combined with events that AOII participates in with the Arthritis Foundation and Arthritis Society, raised over $566,000 in 2014. We look forward to hearing how much was raised this year!

Jingle Bell Run – ” The Jingle Bell Run is a fun and festive holiday theme 5K and even better, funds raised benefit arthritis research.” We had a blast taking on this 5k together through beautiful neighborhoods of Newton. Each member got a free t-shirt (and jingle bells, of course…)

Sisters for Soliders

Beta Upsilon at Bryant University is doing their second annual Survival of the Fittest competition Oct 3-5. Teams will compete over several days in challenges as diverse as walking in heels to an obstacle course!

Survival of the Fittest is part of Beta Upsilon’s Sisters for Soldiers initiative, and they are asking for donations, either goods or monetary, to assist them in sending care packages to our men and women in the armed forces.

To donate, you can bring any of the following items to Beta Upsilon before Oct 2 or to an AOII Boston Alumane event before Sept 28, or fill out the following form to donate individually.

Walking for Arthritis

This past Sunday, September 15th, the AOII Boston Alumnae Chapter walked for Arthritis at the Arthritis Foundation’s Boston Arthritis Walk.

Our team raised over $800 for Arthritis Research, and the event raised over $98,000!

Congratulations to Kathleen Donahue for being our top fundraiser this year!

The event was a ton of fun, and we hope to see you next year!
