We also welcome members to participate in our elections committee, if you would like to volunteer just fill out the form and indicate as such or email Katie at katherineriker@gmail.com.

Most positions are open, and if there is not an existing position that suits your interests we can create one! Don’t feel shy about running for any position you are interested in.

Below are some Q&A to give you better insight into officer responsibilities. Please let us know if you have additional questions that are not covered by the information below!

———————————————————————————————————————————-
Q: What positions are available and what are the responsibilities?

A: President – Serves as the official contact person of the chapter. Responds to chapter emails regarding membership and events. Sends email updates to chapter as needed. Attends 2014 Leadership Institute (June 27-29) as the Chapter Delegate. Participates in Alumnae Network conference calls and remits Standards of Excellence award nomination to HQ.

Vice President – Assists President with duties above and other officer duties where needed, such as collaborating with collegiate chapters, alumnae membership outreach, or educational programmng.

Programming Chair – Surveys the membership on programming requests for the upcoming year. Creates event calendar for the year. Sends Evites and creates Facebook events for each upcoming event, coordinates with venues, and verifies that there will be an officer present at each event.

———————————————————————————————————————————-

Q: I have a family and am involved in a number of other organizations. Is there a huge time commitment associated with being an officer?

A: We hold an officer kickoff meeting to collaborate on ideas for events and membership for the upcoming year. After that, most of our correspondence is via email (3-4 times a month) and a few conference calls. Most officers do not have any paperwork or reports to file.

———————————————————————————————————————————-

Q: If I am an officer, do I have to attend every Alumnae Chapter event?
A: No, officers work together to make sure that there is always at least one officer to coordinate at the event.

———————————————————————————————————————————-

Q: I haven’t served as an officer before, do I need to have prior experience?
A: Definitely not! We are looking for women with new ideas on improving the chapter and experience for our members.

———————————————————————————————————————————-

Q: What is the timeline for elections?
A: April 2 – Interested members complete interest form
April 4-10 – Elections Committee creates a slate
April 10-13 – Slate is distributed to all dues paying members and voted on electronically
April 14-17 – Votes are tallied, results are distributed to members, and officer transition begins

———————————————————————————————————————————-

Q. I’m interested in a position, but nothing above stands out to me. What should I do?
A. Let us know! If you have a specific area you would like to pursue, positions can be appointed to capitalize on members’ individual strengths and chapter needs: collegiate relations, community service, suburban liaison, these are just a few examples of positions which can be created.

———————————————————————————————————————————-

Hello from the New Delta Alumnae Relations Chair!

Please join me in welcoming the new Alumnae Relations Chair for Delta Chapter at Tufts University!

My name is Tzeidel Eichenberg and I am a sophomore here at Tufts. I am majoring in Clinical Psychology, and am pre-med as well. I’m very much a local; I am originally from Medford and grew up in Lexington! Before I was Alumnae Relations Chairwoman, I served as VP of Chapter Development, and I am excited to bring those skills to my new position. I aim to be as accessible as possible to all of you, so please feel free to text, call or email me with any questions, comments, suggestions or just to introduce yourself!

AOII Boston Area Founder’s Day 2013!

Stella, Helen, Elizabeth & Jessie Would Be Proud of Boston AOII’s!

Eighty-five Boston area AOII’s signed up for this year’s Boston Area Founder’s Day! This year, the Delta Chapter at Tufts University spearheaded the planning efforts of this event which took place on the Tufts University campus. We enjoyed a nice brunch buffet including an egg souffle of asparagus and provolone, pancakes, grilled English muffins, fruit, sausage and bacon!

Programming included ritual, the presentation of the annual Rose Award which this year was given to Kathleen Donahue for all of her time and dedication toward AOII, hearing a chapter update from the Delta chapter in addition to a AOII Foundation update, and we also raised $200 for the Ruby Fund, which we know will go to great use for a sister in need.

It was so great to show some Alpha Love in honor of our founders! Thanks to everyone who attended!
